Biomedical Technology
Leader: Dennis L. Matthews, Ph.D.
Co-Leader: John Boone, Ph.D.
The Biomedical Technology Program combines a range of disciplines (physical sciences, biology, medicine, and engineering) with the goal of innovative advances in techniques and technologies for research, diagnosis, and therapy in cancer. Program themes include: (1) development of improved cancer diagnostics through new imaging systems (utilizing x-ray, visible, near-visible, and sonic spectrums), and (2) invention of new biological, physical, and biophysical technologies to optimize the delivery and potency of pharmacological, surgical, and radiation therapies.
