At UC Davis Cancer Center, specialized teams of doctors work together to develop the ideal treatment or combination of treatments for each patient. We have one team of experts specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, another specializing in prostate cancer, a third in thoracic (lung) cancer, and so on. Physicians from many different disciplines come together on these teams, from hematology and oncology to surgery. Other disciplines include radiation oncology, pathology and diagnostic radiology. The expertise and compassion of the doctors who form our specialized teams make us one of the nation's top cancer centers.
But no matter how many specialists are on a given team, each patient's care is coordinated by one doctor. This doctor sees the patient on a regular basis for examinations, to discuss progress and to answer questions. In addition, all of our specialty teams are rounded out by nurses, dietitians, social workers and other highly trained professionals who ensure that every patient at UC Davis Cancer Center receives the best possible care.
