The annual meeting of the National Advisory Council brings national health-care experts together to provide input on long-range plans in several areas.

April 20-22: Western Institute of Nursing 48th Annual Research Conference and University of California nursing reception
The four UC nursing programs team up to celebrate the university's contributions to nursing research at a special reception at the Western Institute of Nursing annual conference in Denver. Attendees met UC nursing faculty, postdoctoral scholars, students and staff during the reception. UC Davis students, faculty and postdoctoral scholars present poster and podium presentations throughout the nursing research conference.

The Regional Advisory Group, made up of area health care leaders, meets biannually with the school’s leaders to provide feedback on the progress of the school and its impact in the community.

Jan. 12: Leadership Dinner
The winter-term Leadership in Health Care course, which is required for all first-year students at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, kicks off with a leadership dinner with various regional leaders including elected officials, nurse leaders, researchers and other. Click here to learn more.

March 5: Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Eta Chapter Research Roundtable and Leadership Luncheon
The Zeta Eta At-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing, hosts the annual Research Roundtable and Leadership Luncheon for nursing students from California State University, Sacramento, School of Nursing and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. The 2017 event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UC Davis MIND Institute, features keynote speaker, Jessica Draughon Moret, an assistant professor of clinical nursing at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, and her presentation, “HIV nPEP after Sexual Assault: Results of a Mixed-Methods Study Examining Nurse and Patient Factors Related to Offering, Accepting and Adhering”

Sept. 11: Community Connections mentor orientation brunch
Mentors who support first-year master’s-degree leadership students in the year-long Community Connections course meet on campus to discuss the year’s fieldwork courses. Community Connections partners students with area community organizations and health-system leaders, who serve as mentors, to research service challenges, seek community-specific data, identify appropriate analyses and formulate strategies for solutions.

Sept. 14-16: Leadership Immersion
Incoming master’s-degree leadership and doctoral students participate in the three-day leadership experience to launch their scholarship journey. More than an orientation seminar about logistics, the immersion is an intensive opportunity for students to closely examine the leaders they want to become and the changes they hope to make in health care.

Sept. 15: Welcoming Ceremony
Introduction of Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership, Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science — Leadership classes and newly admitted students.
