Child neurology
Inpatient consultations
The child neurology inpatient consultation service evaluates children with a wide range of acute neurological problems including:
- Epilepsy
- Metabolic
- Genetic disorders
- Neuromuscular disorders
- Neurodevelopment disorders
The inpatient consultaton service may also evaluate neurological complications of trauma, congenital heart disease and malignancies. Inpatient facilities include a pediatric ward, intensive care unit, special care unit and two neonatal intensive care units. Children with intractable seizures are admitted to the pediatric service for extended video electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring.
Neurology residents

Adult neurology residents have three-month rotations on pediatric neurology, both inpatient and outpatient consultations. Residents and fellows from other departments, including pediatrics, child psychiatry, and physical medicine and rehabilitation, also have rotations on the service. The on-call neurology residents cover the pediatric emergency room.
Outpatient consultation and clinics
Outpatient consultation is available at UC Davis MIND Institute clinics, UC Davis Medical Group, Carmichael and the outpatient clinic at Shriners Hospital for Children.
