Christy Adams is a registered nurse and the Coordinator for the UC Davis Health System Trauma Prevention Program. With over 20 years of trauma and critical care experience across the age continuum, she has provided valuable contributions to state and national injury prevention groups. Her passion for collaborative injury prevention is evident in her development of numerous community partnerships and in her role as an injury prevention mentor for students of the health care professions.

Esmeralda Huerta is a Violence Intervention Specialist with the UCDH Wraparound Program. As a certified Violence Prevention Professional, she provides comprehensive case management to violently injured young people. Throughout her youth, she experienced the striking effects of violence and trauma. She brings empathy, anecdotal experience and courage to traumatized young people and empowers them to become trauma-wise. Esmeralda contributes locally with her partnerships in the Sacramento region and nationally with The Health Alliance for Violence Intervention to create a safer world for young people.


Chevist Johnson

Chevist Johnson is a Violence Intervention Specialist with the UCDH Wraparound Program. He is a certified Gang Intervention Specialist with over 15 years of experience working with both and victims and perpetrators of violence crime. As a resource to the communities he serves, Chevist leans upon his experiences as a former gang member himself to engage those looking to leave traumatic lifestyles behind, in hopes of discovering a new direction in life.  A strong advocate for mindset and environment change, he seeks to provide individuals he serves with mentoring and community resources to help them take the steps needed to reach their full potential. A husband and father, Chevist is dedicated to serving the residents of Oak Park and its many community partners to help reduce violent incidents in the area.


Genesis Paredes

Genesis Paredes is a Community Injury Prevention Educator with UC Davis Health Injury and Violence Prevention Program. She provides car seat classes and installation checks for parents and caregivers in the greater Sacramento community. She received a bachelor's degree from California State University, Chico in Public Health and Health Education. She is certified as a National Highway Traffic Administration Child Passenger Safety Technician. Genesis has years of experience in education in clinical and classroom settings. Genesis works hard to educate parents and caregivers around her. She strives to ensure that children are always riding safely in cars in order to lower the chances of motor vehicle injuries.

Shanalle Patterson a Violence Intervention Specialist with the UCDH Wraparound Program. She has a bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Sociology with emphasis in strategic policy making. Shanalle has experience with working with diverse communities, youth, and young adults. Her expertise is working with trauma impacted carceral youth and young adults. With personal experience Shanalle is a cornerstone to her community and various agencies in the greater Sacramento area. Shanalle is deeply rooted in community organizing and takes pride in advocating and bridging the gap with youth and available resources. In her leisure time she enjoys exploring the world through travel.

Marisela Rodriguez is a Community Injury Prevention Educator with UC Davis Health Injury and Violence Prevention Program. She provides car seat education to families at UC Davis Health. She has a bachelor’s degree from California State University of Sacramento in Health Science. She is certified as a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Child Passenger Safety Technician. Marisela has over 7 years of community education experience with diverse communities, schools, and clinical settings.

Jennifer Rubin is the Safe Kids Greater Sacramento Coalition Coordinator and Master Trainer for the A Matter of Balance senior fall prevention program. Jennifer collaborates with local agencies to implement senior fall prevention programs in the community and is an active stakeholder in the StopFalls Sacramento Coalition. As Safe Kids Coordinator, Jennifer helps coalition member agencies connect with safety resources regarding bicycle/pedestrian safety, car seat safety, fire/burn prevention, poison prevention, and water safety.
