Christy Adams, R.N., B.S.N., M.P.H., Trauma Prevention and Outreach Coordinator

Christy Adams is a registered nurse and the Coordinator for the UC Davis Health System Trauma Prevention Program. With over 20 years of trauma and critical care experience across the age continuum, she has provided valuable contributions to state and national injury prevention groups. Her passion for collaborative injury prevention is evident in her development of numerous community partnerships and in her role as an injury prevention mentor for students of the health care professions. 


Cathy Catherine Morris, Child Passenger Safety Coordinator

Catherine Morris is the Community Health Program Supervisor and Child Passenger Safety Coordinator for the trauma prevention program. Cathy has worked in the area of traffic safety since 1986 and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the program.  She has been a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) child passenger safety instructor since 1995. Her ongoing outreach providing car seat education in the community has earned UC Davis Children's Hospital recognition in Sacramento as a valuable resource for families with children of all ages. In addition to her work in the community, Cathy oversees the hospital car seat program and fitting station that provides up to date education for hospital staff and parents of our pediatric patients. Graduated in 1976 from California State University, Chico with a BS in Liberal Studies, Cathy received her California Teaching Credential from CSUC in 1977.

Christianne Ramdeen, WHY Sac Administrative Support
Christianne Ramdeen is an AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteer with WHY Sac, a network of service providers supporting marginalized youth in Sacramento. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, Christianne became involved in public health and psychology research. She moved to Sacramento in December 2012 to join our team. Christianne plays a valuable role in building netowrk capacity and expanding service provision capabilities for marginalized youth in Sacramento.

 Dennette Villarreal

Dennette Villarreal, Community Health Program Representative

Dennette joined the Trauma Prevention Program in 2013 as the Community Health Program Representative.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Development from San Jose State University.  Dennette’s bilingual skills allow for cultural brokerage and outreach in the Latino community.  As a certified child passenger safety technician, she assists with car seat checks and provides instruction on Spanish Car Seat Safety classes.  In addition, Dennette coordinates and attends community outreach events, while providing education on injury prevention and safety in the community. 


Kohl's Buckle Up to Grow Up Outreach Staff

Juanita Jue
Juanita Jue is a member of the outreach team for our Kohl’s Buckle Up to Grow Up program. Graduated from San Francisco State University in Health Education with an emphasis on Community Health she has worked with culturally diverse communities in both rural and urban settings. Juanita is a bicultural-bilingual Health Educator with experience working in farm labor camp clinics, schools, hospitals and community based organizations.

Maria Gutierrez
Maria C. Gutierrez joined the UC Davis prevention team in 2010 as a bilingual outreach health educator with the Kohl’s Buckle Up to Grow Up program. She was certified by the National CPS board in 2008 as a Child Passenger Safety Technician and provides car seat and helmet safety education for children and parents.  Maria has been working for Migrant Education Region 2 for the last 15 years, 10 of which have been with the migrant families in the River Delta Unified School District as Migrant Paraprofessional Services.  Maria provides a wide range of services to the migrant families including health home visits, health insurance information, and transportation for the students.  Maria provides translation and interpretation as needed and teaches Spanish car seat classes families in her region.

Nkiruka Herche
Formerly a member of our administrative staff, Nkiruka Herche joined our outreach team as a health educator in 2013.  A child passenger safety technician certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Nkiruka teaches car seat safety to pregnant and parent teens through our Teen Success community partner.  Her outreach experience with diverse communities enables our program to reach a broader audience with childhood safety education.
