Dr. Ankit Sarin leads a group of exceptional board-certified colorectal surgeons (Drs. Kucejko, Flynn, Miller, and Noren) who take care of patients with colorectal cancer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, diverticular disease, polyposis syndromes, anorectal disorders, as well as rectal prolapse and fecal incontinence.

In addition to full training in general surgery, our colorectal surgeons have completed advanced training in the treatment of colorectal problems. They offer the complete spectrum of care offered anywhere in the country including laparoscopy, robotic surgery, advanced transanal techniques (TAMIS, Robotic), Sacral nerve stimulator, high-resolution anoscopy and advanced endoscopy.  This allows the group to offer state of the art care for colorectal disorders such as transanal techniques for early rectal cancer; sphincter-preserving operations for low rectal cancers; non-operative management in select rectal cancers, ileal pouches for ulcerative colitis or familial adenomatous polyposis and robotic options for rectal prolapse and colostomy reversal.

The colorectal surgeons collaborate with nationally recognized UC Davis gastroenterologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons from other specialties to offer patients with complex colorectal problems an integrated treatment plan.

UC Davis has consistently earned a “High Performance” rating – the highest rating possible – for colon cancer surgery in the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals survey which evaluates data from more than 4,500 hospitals nation wide.  UC Davis is one of only three and the only University based program in Northern California accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer. This program sets comprehensive standards for rectal cancer programs. To be accredited, the UC Davis rectal cancer program is evaluated against these standards to demonstrate compliance and commitment to providing high-quality rectal cancer care.

UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center is among only 56 cancer centers in the US with the “Comprehensive” designation demonstrating scientific excellence and the ability to conduct cancer research across many disciplines. It is also a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network which is a not-for-profit alliance of 32 leading cancer centers devoted to patient care, research, and education.
