Longitudinal Experiences in the Pre-Clerkship Phase

USMLE Step 1

Clerkship Intersession – including Transition to Clerkship (MDS 479)
Internal Medicine (IMD 430)
Family and Community Medicine (FAP 430)
Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBG 430)
Pediatrics (PED 430)
Psychiatry (PSY 430)
Surgery (SUR 430)
Selectives: 6 weeks of self-selected 2-, 4- or 6-week courses, which include these options:

  • Clinical Selectives
  • Research/Area of Scholarly Concentration
  • Advanced Clinical Clerkships
  • Clinical Didactics

Post-Clerkship Phase Requirements (Year 4)

  • Emergency Medicine Acting Internship (4 weeks at UC Davis Health; EMR 440 or EMR 470)
  • Neurology Advanced Clinical Clerkship or Acting Internship (4 weeks at UC Davis Health; NEU 450)
  • Intensive Care Unit Acting Internship (4 weeks at UC Davis Health; CAR 462, IMD 469, NSU 466, PED 474, PED 477, or SUR 465)
  • Additional Acting Internship (4 weeks of an inpatient or outpatient experience at UC Davis Health or away)
  • Transition to Residency (2 weeks; MDS 449)
  • Electives to complete the remaining required weeks (total of 44 weeks)
  • Clinical Performance Examination (CPX) passage
  • USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge passage
