M.D. Program

M.D. Program

The college system was introduced at the UC Davis School of Medicine in 2003 to promote an appreciation of both benefits and responsibilities of being part of a supportive professional community.

In order to better support its 400 students, UC Davis School of Medicine organizes students into four distinct "colleges." The college model offers medical students more peer interaction, with formal and informal activities bringing all four years into close and frequent contact.

The four colleges are:

  •  Iakona College
  • Rouleaux College
  • Viega College
  • HuGE College

Activities throughout the year include:

  • College Olympics
  • Fall Fun Fest at a Pumpkin Patch
  • Pumpkin Carving Contest
  • Thanksgiving Potluck and/or Barbecue
  • Speed Winter Wonderland Architectural Competition
  • Valentine’s Day Activities
  • College Dinners
