Events and Workshops

  • How to Effectively Manage Student Debt - Best Practices for Residency

Tuesday, February 28, 2017– (Ed Bldg, LH 1222)
    5:00 PM to ~ 7:00 PM

Guest speaker - Jason DiLorenzo, Doctors Without Quarters (DWOQ)
Who should attend? This interactive workshop is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for any graduating student who borrowed loans prior to or during medical school. You are encouraged to bring your spouse or significant other - especially if that individual might be the one handling your finances during your busy residency years. Our limited staff cannot meet individually with graduates to talk through your educational loan debt strategies. Bring your questions! Your questions are relevant to the broad group. This is the BEST opportunity to get questions answered, fully understand your options, and know the latest about Congressional/Legislature discussion on loan forgiveness, repayment options, etc.
  • REQUIRED GROUP EXIT LOAN COUNSELING for SPRING QUARTER OFF 2017 Graduates

Guest presenter – Staff member(s) from UC Davis Student Accounting, Collections Unit
Who MUST attend? A graduating student that borrowed federal loans while enrolled in Med School who will be taking SPRING QUARTER OFF, (or who finished degree requirements in December 2016.) It is a federal requirement that loan borrowers go through exit counseling. This presentation will be tailored for those finishing their degree requirements one quarter sooner. You are welcome to bring your spouse or significant other to this exit loan session. Again, another opportunity to get your questions answered.  This session will cover required details from having borrowed federal loans. We will go into more detail about loan repayment options, consolidation, etc.  (You will receive an email from Jessica Horohov (jhorohov@ucdavis.edu) of our UCD Student Accounting, Long-Term Loan Collections Unit, of your required attendance).
