Financial Information
There is no stipend offered. Dietetic interns are not considered to have student status and therefore, no financial aid is available. A full time dietetic internship can be financially challenging. Despite this, it is strongly recommended that the intern not hold employment, as it will be a rigorous year. Additionally, time away from the internship will not be granted for employment.
Dietetic Internship Estimated Expenses
Interns are required to locate their own housing. There are a variety of small houses and apartment complexes located near UC Davis Medical Center. Rental costs depend on location and type of unit. Housing arrangements should be made prior to starting the internship. Although most rotations will be at the medical center and walking distance from several neighborhoods, interns need access to reliable transportation to get to off-site rotations and field trips. Professional liability insurance is provided at no additional cost to the dietetic intern. Health insurance is strongly recommended and is not provided by the UC Davis Medical Center.
