The Cytopathology Laboratory offers educational opportunities for trainees of all levels:

Medical students/Observers:  Rotations are available upon request for periods of 2 weeks or longer. Experiences include pre-screening of cases, sign-out with the cytopathologist, attending FNAs in clinic and radiology, participating in specimen preparation. Research rotations which include participation in research projects are also possible. Residents:  Rotations occur in one-month blocks and are designed to meet the criteria for eligibility certification in Anatomic Pathology established by the American Board of Pathology.

Fellows:  The one-year Cytopathology Fellowship is approved by the ACGME and includes experiences in FNA clinic, diagnostic cytopathology, laboratory management, quality control/quality assurance, required research project and elective time. The fellowship activities are designed to meet the criteria for Special Qualification in Cytopathology established by the American Board of Pathology.
