Update: Pavilion and Cypress pharmacy moves

(SACRAMENTO)

As the Department of Pharmacy continues to expand its outpatient services and outgrow its current spaces, the Cypress and Pavilion pharmacies are in the process of relocating in 2024. The Cypress Pharmacy moved off-campus in early 2024, and the Pavilion Pharmacy will move to the Cypress Pharmacy's former location soon.

This page will be an informational landing page for everything staff need to know about the two moves.

Cypress Pharmacy (Updated)

UCD Health Solutions Pharmacy opened at the end of February and has been servicing most of the Cypress Pharmacy patients. During the last month, Health Solutions Pharmacy has been working on becoming fully operational with its new conveyance system and dispensing automation. Pill Pouch packaging services are expected to start this summer.

Cypress Pharmacy is planned for a full closure by the end of April 2024. Upon closure, providers will no longer be able to select Cypress Pharmacy in EPIC for prescriptions and will need to select UCD Health Solutions Pharmacy. As a reminder, delivery of prescriptions can take 3-7 business days.

Patients who are interested in delivery of their prescriptions can add UCD Health Solutions Pharmacy as their preferred pharmacy in MyChart.  They can then select their medications for delivery and follow the prompts for checkout.  As an alternative, patients can call the pharmacy team at 916-734-0900, option 2, to set up their delivery order.

Pavilion Pharmacy

The Pavilion Pharmacy is the primary pharmacy for patients discharged from the main hospital and the Emergency Department. However, the space is needed for 24 additional observation beds. Therefore, the Pavilion Pharmacy will relocate to the Cypress Pharmacy location in Summer 2024.

More information will become available soon.

More on the Shared Services Center

The SSC – a cutting-edge facility spanning 82,000 square feet - will house the Supply Chain Warehouse, the Specialty Pharmacy, Home Infusion Services, offices and warehouse space. This facility marks a significant milestone in our mission to streamline and elevate our healthcare services across all clinical care areas.

This is UC Davis Health’s fourth all-electric facility, as well. It is expected to earn a Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Program. The building features a unique, high-efficiency heating and cooling system, a 100-gallon, all-electric heat pump water heater, LED lighting with smart controls, ultra-low water use plumbing fixtures, drought-tolerant landscaping and power from SMUD’s SolarShares and Greenergy programs. In fact, SMUD recently awarded UC Davis Health a $169,000 incentive for completing this project.

The following are additional features of the Shared Services Center:

  • Supply Chain Warehouse: A high-speed repackager capable of storing 480 products simultaneously will be a game-changer. Integrated with inventory management software, it will prompt repackaging on demand, significantly reducing manual work and dependency on external services.
  • Specialty Pharmacy: With the introduction of high-speed automation, repackaging systems, and supporting conveyance from Parata, UC Davis Health will have the capacity to increase from 600 prescriptions a day to up to 2,800 prescriptions per day over time.
  • Home Infusion Services: Operating on the BrightTree platform, this move will enhance our capabilities in providing home infusion services. This location will have four rooms to allow patients to receive their infusions onsite.
