Pediatric Telemedicine
The UC Davis pediatric critical-care telemedicine program is the first of its kind in the United States, providing immediate assistance to acutely ill and injured children throughout Northern California. Using high-speed video conferencing, the telemedicine program offers real-time remote consultation and evaluation in emergency medicine, cardiology, child abuse, child development, and a variety of other subspecialties.
This enhanced video technology allows UC Davis to offer expertise to rural health-care facilities that typically have less access to pediatric subspecialists, including critical care and emergency medicine physicians, pharmacists and other pediatric subspecialists.
Family-Link program connects families
Family-Link is a unique program that helps families stay connected when a child is hospitalized. Using a special camera and phone combination unit, a television set, and a standard telephone line, the Family-Link program lets parents and siblings see and talk from home with loved ones who are in the hospital.
