Pediatric anesthesia fellowship
The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at UC Davis Medical Center offers comprehensive pediatric anesthesiology fellowship training in all of the major areas of the discipline. The fellow completes rotations in pediatric pain management, anesthesiology for diagnostic procedures, pediatric ambulatory anesthesia, pre-anesthetic preparation, post pediatric anesthesia care, critical care anesthesia, assistance with ventilation problems and/or resuscitation in pediatric patients, pediatric regional nerve blocks and pediatric cardiac anesthesia. The department provides anesthetic management to children undergoing radiology in- and out-patient scans, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans and Computerized Tomography (CT) scans. Training in advanced life support for neonates, children, and adolescents is provided.
The department offers the fellow the opportunity to concentrate in one of the following areas of pediatric anesthesiology: pediatric cardiac anesthesiology, pediatric pain, pediatric anesthesia for radiology procedures, or pediatric ambulatory anesthesia. The program is designed so that the fellow spends one-month rotations in pediatric pain management and in either the pediatric or neonatal intensive care unit. The fellow also rotates to the Shriners Hospital for Children, which is located next to UC Davis Medical Center, and also to the Children's Hospital and Research Center in Oakland, CA.
Departmental pediatric anesthesiologists are part of the multi-disciplinary UC Davis Children's Hospital at the UC Davis Medical Center.
