About Us

The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine is deeply committed to embracing diversity. In 2021, the Anesthesiology Inclusion, Diversity, Anti-Racism, and Equity Committee (iDare) was established. Initially comprising a handful of dedicated residents and faculty members with a shared vision, iDare has since grown to encompass faculty, fellows, residents, and interns from across the department. iDare's primary objective is to shape a Department that recognizes and nurtures the essential skills required to promote diversity, offer mentorship, generate scholarly opportunities, and equip UC Davis' anesthesiologists to effectively address the healthcare needs of a multifaceted population. This proactive initiative underscores the Department's unwavering dedication to fostering an inclusive environment, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued in the pursuit of excellence in anesthesiology and pain medicine.

Mission Statement

At the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, our mission is deeply rooted in the unwavering commitment to embracing diversity and fostering inclusivity. In 2021, we established the Anesthesiology Inclusion, Diversity, Anti-Racism, and Equity Committee (iDare) as a testament to our dedication to these principles. What began with a small group of passionate residents and faculty members sharing a common vision has blossomed into a department-wide movement.

Our primary goal through iDare is to cultivate a Department that not only acknowledges but actively nurtures the essential skills necessary for the promotion of diversity, the provision of mentorship, the creation of scholarly opportunities, and the empowerment of UC Davis' anesthesiologists. We recognize the pressing need to equip our professionals with the tools and insights required to address the multifaceted healthcare needs of our diverse population.

Our proactive approach emphasizes the importance of an inclusive environment where every voice is not only heard but valued. Through iDare, we are committed to ensuring that excellence in anesthesiology and pain medicine is achieved through a collective effort that celebrates and leverages the rich tapestry of perspectives and experiences within our department. Together, we strive to make a meaningful impact on healthcare by embracing diversity as a cornerstone of our mission.
