Be the nation's leader in orthopaedic excellence. We will lead national research innovation, education and excellence in orthopaedic surgery that contributes to better mobility and quality of life for patients.
To leverage one of the nation's richest orthopaedic environments, multidisciplinary collaborations unique to UC Davis and our outstanding faculty to enable compassionate patient care, groundbreaking innovations and superior training for existing and future generations of orthopaedic surgeons.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides comprehensive medical and surgical care of the musculoskeletal system for both adults and children. As a leading West Coast center for orthopaedic care and a key player in the world-renowned UC Davis Trauma Center - one of the largest and most sophisticated interdisciplinary trauma programs in the nation - the department provides a full spectrum of treatment specialties. The department also offers a wide range of educational programs for medical specialists, residents and medical students and pursues broad research investigations.
In keeping with UC Davis Health System's commitment to discovering and sharing knowledge, the department established academic and clinical care affiliations with partner organizations and regional, state and national health-care systems, including the Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California and Kaiser Permanente, Sacramento.
The mission of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is manifold and is vital to the health system vision. We strive to provide excellence in clinical care, education, research and community engagement. Our faculty, programs and research activities play a crucial role in making UC Davis a prominent academic and medical institution.
