The program, called Preparando Estudiantes Para Ser Medicos, or Preparing Students to Be Physicians, (“Prep Médico” for short) is a multi-faceted initiative that will provide scholarships, mentorship and internship opportunities, a residential program, volunteer service opportunities, and hands-on clinical experiences for pre-med and medical students.

The UC Davis MIND Institute and Office for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, in partnership with the Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI), offer a program for Undergraduate Students called the Maternal Child Health Careers/Research Initiatives for Student Enhancement - Undergraduate Summer Program (MCHC/RISE-UP).

The program goal is to promote a more equitable health system by introducing highly qualified diverse undergraduate scholars (juniors and seniors with a GPA 2.7 or better on a 4.0 scale; and scholars who received their baccalaureate degree within 12 months of MCHC/RISE-UP program orientation) to the field of public health.

Four-part hybrid (online and in class) training for faculty and all Instructors on Record (IORs).

Upon completion of this series, participants will be able to apply cultural humility to empower their teaching, identify the key elements of curricular content that contribute to the cultural microaggressions that impede learning and develop self-management and communications skills to navigate difficult interactions that impact cultural safety.

Attendees will participate in a positive and nonjudgmental faculty development environment that combines online learning with in-person cohort discussions.
