Jennette L. Boakes, M.D., M.S.

Clinical/Research Interests
Dr. Boakes' clinical interests include treatment of hip dysplasia in children and adolescents, congenital and acquired limb deformity, leg length discrepancy, congenital disorders of the foot (including clubfoot), and fracture care. Dr. Boakes' research interests include muscle physiology and adaptation; muscle structure/function relationships; spastic muscle; muscle adaptation to leg lengthening; in vivo sarcomere length measurement; gait analysis, and physical fitness.
Philosophy of Care
With my expertise and interest in muscle function and physical fitness I encourage patients to participate in their own healing with exercise, muscle retraining and therapy when needed. I frequently advise non-operative treatment before recommending surgery. I try to incorporate my patients' needs as well as their parents' goals in developing a treatment plan. I strive for excellence in surgery, using safe and proven techniques that I know will improve patients' function. I also participate in 'cutting-edge' research studies of new techniques which will benefit my patients.
