Representatives at our Consumer Resource Center are also available at 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284) to help answer your questions or match you to a primary-care doctor. Certified interpreters are available as needed.
The first step on your checklist is to make sure your health insurance plan includes UC Davis Medical Group and that you have selected it as your medical group.
You can then either call 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284) to talk with a representative who will help match you to a primary-care doctor, or use the Find a Doctor tool on the UC Davis Health System Web site.
To search online:
- Visit the health system's Find a Doctor tool.
- Use the menus to search for doctors conveniently located near where you live or work.
- Or, if you know the name of a primary care doctor, search for him or her by name.
- Review our doctors' biographical information to learn more about your choices.
- Once you have identified your preferred office location and physician, call the specific clinic phone number listed or 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284) to see if the doctor is accepting new patients.
- Please note that some physicians at certain locations may not be accepting new patients but that other physicians at the same location may be. Please be sure to ask the medical office about available physicians.
UC Davis accepts a wide variety of health insurance plans. View the list of accepted plans on the Web or call the Consumer Resource Center at 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284) for more information.
If your health insurance plan includes UC Davis Medical Group but you are part of another medical group, your plan may allow you to switch anytime. If your health insurance plan does not include UC Davis Medical Group, you may want to consider switching health plans during your open enrollment period.
If UC Davis Medical Group is not part of your insurance's network of primary care doctors and specialists, the type of insurance you have may result in additional fees to see an "Out-of-Network" provider. For example, if you are in a managed care plan, you may be responsible for the cost of an exam or procedure by an out-of-network physician.
You can talk to your health insurance plan about your options if you would like to see a UC Davis Medical Group primary care doctor or specialist.
UC Davis specialists are available when the need arises. Most specialists require a referral from a primary care physician or another specialist. It is important to note that your ability to see a UC Davis specialist may be limited by your health plan.
