American Cancer Society leaders on access, screening issues

The 2008 UC Davis Cancer Center Research Symposium featured keynote addresses by American Cancer Society leaders. President Elmer E. Huerta spoke on "Access to Cancer Care as a Means of Reducing Cancer Health Disparities," focusing on what needs to be done to ensure all Americans have access to quality cancer services. Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President Otis W. Brawley addressed "Cancer Screening as a Public Health Intervention," highlighting the importance of rigorous evaluation and discipline in the use of screening in order to increase cancer survival and avoid unnecessary costs.
