Jonathan Riess, a UC Davis medical oncologist who specializes in lung cancer, was honored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) with the 2018 Cancer Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award.
The award recognizes and supports outstanding clinical investigators with records of developing and promoting a culture of successful clinical research. Awardees are mid-career clinical investigators at NCI-designated cancer centers and must be nominated by their cancer center director. Riess will receive partial salary support for two years to pursue lung cancer research.
“I am grateful for the NCI Cancer Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award that will help bring innovative NCI-sponsored trials, including novel drug combinations developed at UC Davis, to patients at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center,” Riess said. “It is an honor to be recognized for my contributions.”
Award recipients were announced during the NCI Clinical Trials and Translational Research Advisory Committee Meeting on July 11 in Rockville, Maryland.
