Educators, service providers, families and people with disabilities are invited to a free fair showcasing assistive technology devices and strategies on Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 6-8 p.m. at the UC Davis MIND Institute.
The event will include a panel discussion among self-advocates who use assistive devices, representatives at information tables from several state agencies and organizations that support people with disabilities, and demonstrations of a variety of devices.
Apps for mobile phone and tablets, speech-generating products such as Novachat and DynaVox, smart pens, Chromebook computers and tools for people who are visually impaired all will be demonstrated at the fair.
The event is a program of the Center for Developmental Disabilities, a federally designated university center located at the MIND Institute that collaborates with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to improve quality of life and community inclusion.
No reservations are required. Parking is available for $6 in Lot 25 and free parking is available on the street. The MIND Institute is located at 2825 50th St. in Sacramento.
