In preparation for Rehab Hospital project work, Lot 28 – at Broadway and 49th Street – will be fenced off and permanently closed, starting Tuesday, March 30. There will be no access into or through the lot.

To help offset that loss, UC Davis Health has secured the use of 200 parking spaces at the Employment Development Department (EDD) lot at Broadway and 50th Street.

Beginning March 30, UC Davis Health permit holders (all parking permit types) may park in EDD lot spaces marked by a yellow block with black lettering: “UC Davis Health Parking Permit Required.”

The EDD lot will be serviced by all parking lot shuttles.

As of March 8, 2021, COVID vaccines will no longer be distributed in Lot 25. The vaccine clinic will be relocated to an off-site location and Lot 25 will return to normal parking operations.

There will be continued partial roadway closures along 45th and X Street. Flagged personnel will assist in directing traffic to reduce impacts to staff, visitors and emergency vehicles.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UC Davis Health parking demand exceeded the parking capacity of the Sacramento campus.  With approximately 25 percent of monthly permit holders currently working from home because of the pandemic, the demand for parking on campus has decreased, especially in our outlying parking lots. That said, Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) must ensure that adequate parking spaces are available, as current permit holders begin to return to campus.

Current and pending construction projects on campus, including the Ernest E. Tschannen Eye Institute and Parking Structure 4, will further reduce parking space availability. PATS is proactively planning for the reduction in parking space availability as construction and development begins on several large-scale projects.

Parking Permit Changes

PATS routinely reviews and assesses the availability and type of parking permits and services offered, taking into consideration the needs of the operation, the availability of space, and extraneous pressures on the parking system.  Based upon projected demand and the current and pending construction projects, we have suspended the issuance of new payroll deducted permits.

Existing permit holders who pay through payroll deductions will not be affected by this change.

PATS is still issuing parking permits, and employees can purchase temporary permits of one to three months duration.  Permits can be renewed online through the employee’s parking account or at the parking office. PATS will soon offer a payment option that will allow temporary permit holders to autopay their permit fees on a recurring monthly basis and skip the renewal process.

PATS is only selling temporary permits as they allow parking demand adjustments during the COVID and post-COVID operating environment and address the ongoing construction and development impacts on parking availability on the Sacramento campus.  The use of temporary permits allows PATS to service the immediate parking needs of new employees, while preserving the availability of parking spaces for current permit holders, as we continue to seek alternate parking options for employees both on and off campus.

Public Parking

Parking fees will resume in Parking Structure 3, Lot 1, Lot 3, and Lot 8.

Emergency Department parking and time durations will be enforced.

Permit parking is not allowed in public parking areas, except under certain provisions.

Parking Structure 3 (PS3)

You will have access to any remaining balance of Green Commuter 1-Day Permits from your original allotment of 24. These Green Commuter 1-Day permits reset on July 1st, at the start of the next fiscal year.

As a reminder, all carpool participants that drive alone or outside the carpool group must use a Green Commuter 1- Day Permit and may park in any valid for any B Permit parking space, or spaces marked “Green Commuter Permit Required”.

In conjunction with the transition to UC Path, Parking Services will be realigning the Monthly and Biweekly payroll deduction schedules. This change will simplify the payment schedules, making the deduction process more transparent, and will allow Parking Services to perform reconciliations, refunds, and other processes more efficiently.

Starting September 2019, all permits (B, D, Carpool, Motorcycle, etc.) will be valid in 1-month increments.  All payroll-deducted permits will be issued and charged at the beginning of each month:

  • Employees paid on a monthly schedule will pay in advance for the full month, once at the beginning of each month. Monthly deductions apply to permits valid for the same month.
  • Bi-weekly paid employees will pay in advance for the full month in two installments: half from the first paycheck, and half from the second. Bi-weekly deductions apply to permits valid for the same month.

Aligning the schedules, require the following adjustments will be made:

  • Monthly employees currently pay in arrears. To align schedules, monthly employees will see an additional one-month deduction (double charge) on their August 30th paycheck.
  • Bi-weekly employees currently pay in advance, however due to differences in deduction holidays between PeopleSoft and UC Path, a half-month break from deductions is required. No regular deductions will be taken from the August 21st paycheck.
