Assistant Clinical Professor

Jackson VictoriaVictoria Jackson is an assistant clinical professor for the Master of Science — Family Nurse Practitioner and Master of Health Services — Physician Assistant Studies degree programs at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. In a unique clinician educator role, Jackson divides her time between providing patient care as a nurse practitioner at the UC Davis Health Healthy Aging Clinic and mentoring students.

As a provider, Jackson endeavors to help patients and their families stay informed and empowered during their health care journey. She is interested in health education, preventive care and chronic disease management, particularly in low-health literacy and non-English speaking populations.

Jackson’s passion for patient and caregiver support arose out of her family’s journey through the health care system as well as her experience as a nurse extern in the emergency department and registered nurse in a telemetry-stepdown unit. Because of these experiences, Jackson began focusing her clinical practice on patient and family engagement through education and close follow up, in order to improve outcomes, slow the progression of disease and reduce hospitalizations.

Before joining the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, she worked as a nurse practitioner in cardiology at UC Davis Health, managing arrhythmias and cardiac rhythm management devices in the outpatient setting. In this role, focusing on remote data monitoring, Jackson partnered with physician colleagues to proactively identify and treat patients with arrythmias or device-related issues.

Jackson is interested in team-based, interdisciplinary collaborative approaches to primary care. In her role as a nurse practitioner for the geriatric population, Jackson is committed to utilizing various community and organizational resources to maintain a patient’s independence, encourage graceful aging in place, minimize caregiver strain and improve overall quality of life.

Jackson graduated as a President’s Scholar from California State University, Fresno, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. She earned a Master of Science — Family Nurse Practitioner Degree from the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. She earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from The Valley Foundation School of Nursing at San José State University.
