The Department of Neurology specializes in a wide range of patient services, from diagnosing an illness to the management of chronic neurological disorders. In addition to patient care, many of our specialty physicians actively engage in clinical research and basic science research.

Specialty Clinics for Specific Diseases and Disorders

The department routinely offers specialty clinics for specific disorders, including genetic and metabolic illnesses. Some clinics offer patients opportunities to participate in cutting edge research.

For more information about the days and times these clinics are offered and their locations, please see our list of clinics.

Collaborative subspecialty teams

Neurology teams often cross disciplines and collaborative to maximize research expertise and the quality of patient care. In addition to physicians, these well-rounded subspecialty teams may include research associates, nurses, technicians, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and behavioral specialists.

For more information about our neurology faculty and their subspecialties, please see our clinical providers.

Our clinicians provide both inpatient and outpatient care in quality facilities. For example, patients needing clinical neurophysiology tests are greeted by certified staff in state-of-the-art laboratories. On the other hand, patients needing emergency care because of a stroke are housed in a small unit, which strives for personalized care and no more than three patients per nurse.

The department also works with the UC Davis MIND Institute to provide special clinics for children with neurological disorders, including Down syndrome and epilepsy.
