The School of Medicine (SOM) Office of Research (OR) manages research awards and proposals, safety, space, entrepreneurship, grant facilitation, and support activity for the UC Davis School of Medicine on behalf of the School of Medicine Dean. The program supports investigators across the UC Davis School of Medicine and investigators who perform biomedical research at the UC Davis main campus. The SOM OR is comprised of the Research Operations Unit, Laboratory Health and Safety Unit, Grants Facilitation Unit, Research Space Oversight Unit and the Office of Entrepreneurship & Industry Alliances Unit.

Structure

The UC Davis School of Medicine is part of the nationally recognized health system that excels at translating scientific discoveries and new technology into improved patient care and community-wide health.

The faculty of the School of Medicine specialize in a wide range of research within the various School of Medicine departments, divisions and units.

The School of Medicine Office of Research acts under the direction of the School of Medicine Associate Dean for Research and the School of Medicine Associate Dean of Translational Research.

In order to provide a centralized focus to support the School of Medicine’s research mission, the School of Medicine Associate Dean for Research also serves as the Director of the Clinical and Translational Science Center.

The School of Medicine Office of Research collaboratively works with the UC Davis Office of Research and other UC Davis School of Medicine departments and units (including the Clinical and Translational Science Center and the Clinical Trials Office) to help facilitate the research mission of the UC Davis School of Medicine.

Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC)

Through its various programs and resources, the Clinical and Translational Science Center provides infrastructure for establishing research teams. In order to provide a centralized focus to support the School of Medicine’s research mission, the School of Medicine Associate Dean for Research also serves as the Director of CTSC.

Clinical Trials
Office

Assists investigators, scholars, and staff in the conduct of clinical research by providing education in regulatory and clinical research administration, help with study recruitment, and a vast array of static and interactive resources to guide investigational teams through the myriad of local, state, and federal requirements.
