Internal medicine is a branch of health care that deals with the internal organs. Internal medicine doctors, often called internists, are dedicated to prevention, diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of diseases that affect adults. The UC Davis Department of Internal Medicine is organized according to the guidelines of the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), which is a nonprofit, independent evaluation organization.
Our board-certified physicians
ABIM conducts a certification program that confirms the medical knowledge, judgment and skills of physicians. All doctors in the UC Davis Department of Internal Medicine are ABIM board-certified. Nearly all the doctors in our various divisions have undergone additional fellowship training and board certification in their respective areas of specialization. They participate in recurring continuing education programs that verify that they remain at the forefront of medical knowledge.
