Kohl’s Buckle Up To Grow Up is a partnership between Kohl’s Cares and the UC Davis Children’s Hospital trauma prevention program dedicated to improving childhood safety in the Greater Sacramento area.

Each year in Sacramento hundreds of children are disabled or die from injuries that could have been prevented.  In fact, more children are affected by injuries every year than all other childhood illnesses and diseases combined. Kohl’s Buckle Up To Grow Up Program works to keep children safer by collaborating with local communities to change the way people think about safety.  

The program offers education on preventing the most common childhood injuries through the proper use of safety equipment such as; car seats, seat belts, helmets and life vests.  Donations to the program from Kohl’s Cares are used to provide free safety equipment to underserved families in Sacramento. 

The Kohl’s Buckle Up To Grow Up program is funded through the sale of special Kohl’s Cares books and plush toys, which are available for purchase for only $5, at any Kohl’s Department store. 

We believe in giving back to the communities we serve, not just with money and resources but also with talent and time. Through our community giving and volunteer program, we support kids' health and education, environmental initiatives nationwide and women's health in Wisconsin, specifically the fight against breast cancer. We envision a future where kids are healthy and resources are plentiful, because the way we see it, giving back also means looking ahead.

Healthy kids, happy kids! Kohl's partners with more than 160 hospitals nationwide to help educate kids and their parents about topics such as injury prevention, healthy lifestyle, immunization, asthma and infant care. We support community outreach programs focused on issues affecting kids and work with our hospital partners to tailor the programs based on their community's individual needs.
