Cross Training Program
The UC Davis Health System Cross Training Program is designed to encourage training efforts that will assist career employees to:
- Acquire skills, abilities and knowledge of our health care environment
- Enhance their opportunities for mobility, advancement and personal growth
To participate in the Cross Training Program, it is essential that employees make their career interest known to their supervisor prior to initiating a cross training request.
Steps to a Successful Cross Training Assignment
Identify an opportunity. Keep in mind that cross training is a joint venture involving yourself, your Home Department, and the Cross Training Department.
Complete and submit a Cross Training Application prior to beginning your assignment.
On the first day of your cross training meet with your Cross Training Supervisor and complete an Orientation Checklist together.
At the mid-point of your cross training assignment, your Cross Training Supervisor will complete and review a Status Mid-Point Update with you.
Upon the completion of your assignment—up to 6 months or 100 hours— you and your Cross Training Supervisor will evaluate and review your performance.
Meet with Training and Development to discuss how to leverage this experience in your career development.
