Redding Program Interview Day Information

Applicant Welcome
Welcome to Redding! We've done our best to make sure your interview day is interesting and informative as well as relaxed and enjoyable. The day will begin at 7:45 a.m. in our office with an Orientation/ Overview discussion with Dr. Bland, program director. You will have personal, one-on-one interviews with faculty members and residents as well as group tours of the hospital and the family health center.
We interview on Thursday and Fridays in October through January. Our residents will host an evening dinner on Thursday night. While not required, this is a great way to meet our residents in an informal setting. We are pleased to provide one night's hotel accommodations to our applicants.
Our program will only accept applications received through ERAS - the Electronic Residency Application Service. Submit a separate ERAS application for each program in which you have interest. Our program coordinator will contact you by email to schedule your interview.
At lunchtime we have an "Applicant Session" where all our residents have the opportunity to sit down with you and informally exchange information and answer questions.
Directions to our office
From the Freeway: Exit from I-5 to westbound Highway 299. The Highway will end and turn into Shasta Street.
Follow Shasta Street as it winds through the downtown and crosses the railroad tracks. Turn left onto Court Street. (traffic light)
Turn right on Placer Street. (traffic light)
Go up the hill and turn left on Airpark at the top of the hill.
Turn left on Sonoma Street. We are the first building located on the left hand side. When you are facing the building – park on the left hand side of the building and enter the glass double doors which say Mercy Redding Family Practice Residency Program. Then enter the door on the left.
General Interview Agenda: This is a general agenda for Interview day at Mercy Redding Family Practice Residency Program. It will begin at 7:45 a.m. and end at 1:45 p.m. There will be a specific schedule in your packet when you arrive for the interview.

7:45 a.m. – Arrive at the residency office on Sonoma Street.
8:00 – 8:30 a.m. – Program director will speak to all of the applicants in the MFHC classroom.
8:40 – 11:15 a.m. -The applicants will be taken to interview rooms or on a hospital tour, depending on the number of applicants. Each applicant will be interviewed by the program director, a resident and a faculty member.
11:15 a.m. – The program director will take the applicants on a driving tour of Whiskeytown Lake and the local area.
12:15 p.m. – Attend the noon conference and eat lunch from the cafeteria.
1:00 p.m. - Applicant session with the residents.
1:45 p.m. - Interview day is complete.
Special Notes
Applicants who are staying at a local hotel the night before the interview should have breakfast at the buffet. Hotel check out time is usually at 11 a.m. so be sure to check out of the hotel before you drive to the hospital for your interview.
