"UC Davis Children’s Hospital is not solely a Children's Hospital. It is part of an academic medical center where physicians, including pediatricians, are researching new treatments and cures for a vast array of pediatric conditions."

Medical Director
UC Davis Children's Hospital

At UC Davis Children’s Hospital, we offer the most comprehensive and extensive pediatric services to children in the Sacramento region and beyond. With more than 120 physicians representing 33 pediatric subspecialties, UC Davis Children’s Hospital is available to serve children and families with either the simplest or most complex health concerns in a caring and healing environment. We are also in the most recent US News and World Report in the top 50 Children’s Hospitals in the U.S. in Pediatric Urology.

UC Davis Children’s Hospital is the only institutional member of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) in the region and is affiliated with the world renowned UC Davis MIND Institute, which researches the causes of and treatments for children with autism and other complex neurodevelopmental disorders. Other affiliations include Shriner’s Hospital for Children Northern California, whose mission is the care of children who have received burns and those with orthopedic conditions.

In addition, UC Davis Children’s Hospital’s associations with UC Davis Medical Center, and the University of California, Davis, have far-reaching implications. For UC Davis is not solely a Children’s Hospital. It is part of an academic medical center where physicians, including pediatricians, are researching new treatments and cures for a vast array of pediatric conditions. Examples include:

  • Children’s Hospital physician/researchers have begun a partnership with scientists on the UC Davis campus in the departments of chemistry, enology and viticulture to study the health effects of the components of mothers’ milk in premature infants.

  • UC Davis Children’s Hospital physician/scientists are leading ground-breaking research into the causes of partner violence among adolescents.

  • UC Davis Children’s Hospital stem cell physician/researchers are examining how to develop new, replacement bladder tissue for children who require reconstructive bladder surgery

UC Davis Children’s Hospital recently launched the only on-site surgical program in the Sacramento region to correct congenital heart defects in the tiniest of infants. And UC Davis Children’s Hospital is reaching out to children in rural locations with a host of health conditions — from pediatric obesity to children with complex cardiac conditions — through its nationally recognized pediatric telemedicine program.

Whether premature infants, children with complex congenital anomalies or adolescents navigating the complexities of moving into adulthood, here and around the region, UC Davis Children’s Hospital is there every step of the way to care for children, and support their families, with compassionate care, state-of-the-art technology, and the highest-quality pediatric medicine.
