The 15th Annual UC Davis Bariatric Surgery fashion show takes place Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center auditorium, 4501 X St., Sacramento.

Called "An Evening of the Stars," the event highlights the weight-loss accomplishments of UC Davis patients and gives them the chance to show off their new physiques as they model fashions for business, leisure and formal occasions.

The models will share brief personal stories and photos from their battles with extreme weight, and then walk the stage in the latest fashions provided by Kohl’s and Men’s Wearhouse with hair and makeup provided by Paul Mitchell The School, Sacramento.

Bariatric Surgery Fashion Show

Mohamed Ali, chief of bariatric surgery, talks about the importance of the fashion show in spotlighting patients who are modeling the latest fashions and their return to health.

Bariatric surgery is currently considered the best treatment for those who are more than 100 pounds overweight. UC Davis’ evidence-based, comprehensive program — proven to lead to significant, sustained weight loss — includes nutrition, exercise and psychological support in addition to three procedure options. In addition to cosmetic benefits, the program reduces the risks of cardiovascular disease and diabetes as well as other diseases.

The UC Davis Bariatric Surgery Program has been recognized as a Comprehensive Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).

Admission to the event, which features door prizes, costs $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Proceeds benefit the education, clinical and research initiatives of the UC Davis Bariatric Surgery Program.
