"Celebrate Life!" supports hospice programs

comforting hands © iStockphotoThe annual “Celebrate Life!” event raises funds for UC Davis Hospice, which provides at-home care for terminally ill patients. This year it takes place Thursday, May 2, from 5-8 p.m. at the UC Davis MIND Institute, 2825 50th St., Sacramento.

In addition to supporting hospice, event proceeds benefit special programs that are open to the entire community, regardless of ability to pay, including:

  • General bereavement support group
  • Support group for parents of young children
  • Young adult bereavement support group
  • Healing arts therapy program
  • Thanksgiving dinner program
  • Veterans program

Participants will listen to live piano music, enjoy food and wine donated by local vendors, and bid on silent auction items such as restaurant gift cards and gift baskets.

‘”Celebrate Life!” is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to programs that provide important, meaningful emotional support and services to patients and their families in their time of greatest need,” said Don Lewis, bereavement and volunteer coordinator. “We are hoping this will be our most successful year yet."

Tickets are $25 in advance ($30 at the door) and can be purchased by contacting Krista Rindell at krista.rindell@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu or 916-734-9433. Those who can donate silent auction items should contact Don Lewis at donald.lewis@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu.
