The recently completed Eighth Annual Radiothon Sacramento raised more than $425,000 for UC Davis Children's Hospital, according to preliminary estimates.

The Radiothon was conducted on Feb. 21, 22 and 23 on six Sacramento stations owned by Entercom Radio: 98 Rock, 94.7 Smooth Jazz, 96.9 The Eagle, KWOD 106.5, 107.9 The End and KCTC 1320 AM.

"We are tremendously pleased and gratified that the Sacramento community has once again demonstrated its generosity toward us," said Jacquelyn Kay-Mills, UC Davis Health System's development officer for the children's hospital. "The many thousands of listeners who made donations will directly benefit the children we treat."

Radiothon funds support a variety of clinical and research purposes at UC Davis Children's Hospital, from diabetes education and art therapy to the purchase of wheelchairs and life-support equipment.

In addition to their regular programming, the radio stations featured taped and live segments involving patients, doctors and nurses with UC Davis Children's Hospital, along with appeals for listeners to call and pledge donations. Some of the stations broadcast from the pediatrics unit on Davis Tower 7.
