Audio journal: a year in the life of a breast cancer patient
Just for new patients
Carol Case, with John Linder, leads new-patient education and orientation meetings.
UC Davis Cancer Center offers free education and orientation meetings for all new breast cancer patients. The meetings, made possible through a grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, are open to family members, friends and caregivers as well as new patients.
"If you've just been diagnosed with cancer, it can be a difficult time," said Carol Case, the Cancer Center's oncology patient care coordinator. "We hope this program will provide patients and their loved ones with some additional support as treatment begins."
New patients will receive information to help them prepare for their first visit with their doctor, learn about the programs and services provided at the Cancer Center, and hear suggestions about how to actively participate in their care. They also tour the Cancer Center. For more information, please call (916) 734-5828.
