Lecture: Alzheimer’s behaviors: How do I manage them?

Hear speaker Glen Xiong, associate clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Alzheimer’s Disease Center associate director of education. The lecture will look at causes of dementia behaviors and examine treatment principles and techniques for such behaviors as repetitive statements or utterances, agitation, anger and paranoia. Come participate in a series of weekly yoga classes, open to all levels of physical ability – from beginners to advanced yoga practitioners. No matter what treatment you are receiving or where you are in survivorship, the poses will be accessible to you. Alzheimer’s behaviors: How do I manage them? will be the subject of the next UC Davis Alzheimer’s Disease Center Community Discovery Lecture Series address. The discussion will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lescher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek. The event is free and open to the public. Grief support group for young adults

The Young Adult Bereavement Art Group will be offered for eight weeks by UC Davis Hospice and the UC Davis Children's Hospital Bereavement Program. The group is designed for any young adult, age 17 to 24, who is coping with a recent death of someone close. The sessions will be held on eight consecutive Monday evenings, from September 28 through November 12. Each session will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. at the UC Davis Home Care Services Building, 3630 Business Drive, Suite F, Sacramento. The size of the group is limited. Town Hall Forum: Concussion and brain injury through the lifespan

Join us for a dynamic, interactive event that features brief presentations and discussion on the new ways to identify, prevent and treat concussions and brain injury. Meet UC Davis Clinical Pathology Professor Bennet Omalu, who first reported cases of chronic traumatic brain injury in NFL players and whose life and work is the focus of a film starring Will Smith, and hear from UC Davis specialists in neurology, emergency medicine, Alzheimer’s, vision science and sports medicine who are at the forefront of brain injury research, diagnosis and treatment.
