David L. Dawson, M.D.

David L. Dawson

Clinical/Research Interests

Dr. Dawson specializes in vascular and endovascular surgery, including carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysm repair, and treatment of mesenteric and renal artery disease, venous disorders, diabetic foot problems, and other complex circulation disorders. He is internationally recognized for his work with peripheral artery disease affecting the leg and foot, including the treatment of claudication, and has ongoing clinical research in that area. He is a decorated Air Force veteran who, before joining the faculty at UC Davis, worked at NASA as chief of the Medical Sciences Division at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. His expertise in aviation and space medicine complements his interest in applying advanced technologies, including simulation, to health care. He is also an FAA Aviation Medical Examiner. He has written numerous journal articles and book chapters, and frequently lectures at both national and international conferences.
