Clinical/Research InterestsDr. Deutsch's clinical interests include minimally invasive image-guided therapies for peripheral vascular disease, liver and biliary tract disease including TIPS portal-systemic shunts, uterine fibroids, placement of vascular ports to facilitate venous access, and placement of nonvascular ports to facilitate frequent parcentesis/throacentesis; endourology; GI access (gastrostomy, etc.); and interventional oncology including SIRT - therasphere and sirsphere intra-arterial radiation therapy, and chemoembolization. Interventional radiology is a medical specialty that offers minimally invasive image-guided therapies to provide highly effective options to patients for treatment of problems that until recently either required conventional surgery or had progressed to the point where surgery was no longer possible. Using all of the techniques developed for diagnostic imaging, small tubes, needles and other instruments can be guided directly to the site of the problem and treatments focused directly on the area of disease, allowing achievement of a maximum effect where needed while minimizing unwanted side effects. Dr. Deutsch's research interests focus on SIRT - selective internal radiation therapy. |
