The Urology Team works very closely with Pediatric Nephrology. We have regular joint conferences to review and discuss complex cases and to ensure quality. The Pediatric Urology/Nephrology program at UC Davis Children’s Hospital provides a comprehensive approach to treating children with kidney disease. Very few patients with urinary tract disease require care from a nephrologist. But, when they do, it is important that a strong multi-disciplinary team is available since these children have complex problems. In addition to our Pediatric Stone Clinic, we also provide comprehensive care to children with renal failure, renal insufficiency, posterior urethral valves and reflux nephropathy. Members of the UC Davis Children's Hospital pediatric nephrology and transplant teams are nationally recognized for advances in treatment and research studies benefiting patients who have chronic diseases of the kidney. We attribute our success to our team approach, enabling nephrologists, urologic and transplant surgeons, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, dietitians, and clinical nurses to jointly participate in the care of our patients.
