Gillen
joins Department of Radiology
Marijo A. Gillen
joined the Department of Radiology Abdominal Imaging Section
as an assistant professor, effective Aug. 15. Gillen received
her doctorate in theoretical physical chemistry from New York
University in 1978, and her medical degree from Mount Sinai
School of Medicine in New York in 1981.
She was certified
by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1985 and the
American Board of Radiology in 1990. Gillen also completed
fellowship training in abdominal imaging at Emory University
in Atlanta. Her clinical interests focus on abdominal and
pelvic imaging (including MRI, CT and ultrasound), MRI and
CT angiography, genitourinary and gastrointestinal CT and
MRI, biopsies, abscess drainages, radiofrequency ablation
of tumors, and Thrombin treatment of pseudoneurysms.
Gillen is doing
research in the areas of abdominal MRI for the liver and pancreas,
abdominal and pelvic MR and CT angiography, early detection
of pancreatic neoplasms with MR and CT, and pelvic MRI (including
infertility, stress incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction).
She is a member of the American College of Radiology, American
Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North America,
American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and American
Association for Women Radiologists.
