Peter
Franks joins Department of Family and
Community Medicine
Peter Franks has
joined the Department of Family and Community Medicine as
a professor.
Franks received
his bachelor of science degree and medical degree from London
University, England, in 1970 and 1975, respectively. He was
certified by the American Board of Family Practice in 1980.
Franks was previously a faculty member in the Department of
Family Medicine at the University of Rochester. His clinical
interests are concentrated in family practice.
As a researcher,
he is investigating the role of primary care in the health
care system, social and psychological factors affecting health
and health care, and primary care research methodology. Franks
is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians,
American Public Health Association, North American Primary
Care Research Group, and Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.
He has been a frequent contributor of articles on family practice
issues to a number of medical publications, including the
Journal of Family Practice, where he currently serves
on the editorial board.
