Griffen joins Division of Endocrinology, Clinical Nutrition and Vascular Medicine

Steven C. Griffen has joined the Division of Endocrinology, Clinical Nutrition and Vascular Medicine as an assistant professor.

Griffen received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and is board-certified in internal medicine. He completed a fellowship in endocrinology at UC San Francisco in 1996.

Griffen’s clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, and he has had a longstanding research interest in the metabolism and genetics of insulin. He received the 1998 Young Investigator Award from the Diabetes Association Northern California Research Symposium. He also has received a Clinical Investigator Award from the National Institutes of Health to study impaired beta cell gene expression in a model of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.
