Hak joins Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

David J. Hak will join the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Aug. 1 as an assistant professor. Hak, who specializes in traumatology, received his medical degree from Ohio State University in 1989 and completed his fellowship training in orthopaedic surgery at UC Davis in 1996. He was board-certified in orthopaedic surgery in 1998. Hak's clinical interests include treatment of fracture nonunions, tibiac plateau fractures and orthopaedic trauma cases. His current research focuses on the role of bone morphogenetic protein and its inhibitors in fracture healing as well as the biology of fracture nonunions. Hak is a frequent scientific presenter and lecturer on trauma topics at local, regional and national medical meetings and is enrolled in the physician's executive master's program at Auburn University
