Alsaadi joins Department of Neurology
Taoufik Alsaadi
has joined the faculty of the Department of Neurology as an
assistant professor and co-director of the UC Davis Comprehensive
Epilepsy Program.
Alsaadi attended
both the Premedical School and Medical School of Damascus
University in Damascus, Syria, where he earned his medical
degree in 1989. He was certified by the American Board of
Psychiatry and Neurology in 1999.
Alsaadi has clinical
interests in managing patients with seizures of all types,
with a special interest in patients with difficult-to-control
seizures. He evaluates patients with refractory epilepsy prior
to any possible surgical intervention. Alsaadi's work has
been honored with several awards, including the Edward E.
Shev Award from the Western Clinical Neurophysiology Society
in 2001. His research focuses on conducting drug study trials
for new anti-epileptic agents in patients with epilepsy.
Alsaadi also has
a special interest in utilizing various neuroimaging techniques
in studying seizure disorders, particularly MR spectroscopy,
MRI and fMRI. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Clinical
Electroencephalography, Medical Science Monitor and Seizure,
and a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American
Medical Association, American Epilepsy Society and Western
Clinical Neurophysiology Society.
