He joins Department of Psychiatry
Xiao-yan He recently
joined the Department of Psychiatry as an assistant professor.
He, who specializes
in child and adolescent psychiatry, received both a masters
degree and medical degree from Chongqing University of Medical
Sciences in the Peoples Republic of China. She was certified
by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology last year.
He is particularly
interested in developing screening, evaluation and management
procedures for child and adolescent outpatient clinics and
the clinical study of mood disorders in child and adolescent
populations. He studied as a research fellow in child psychology
at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where
she was also honored with the Outstanding Resident Award in
2000.
She served as
the principal investigator for an American Suicide Foundation
study on suicide in Texas prisons. Her current research focuses
on depression and suicide in children and adolescents as well
as identification of high-risk individuals and prevention
of suicide in correctional systems. He is a member of the
American Psychiatry Association and the American Academy of
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
