Contest seeks name for new café in Medical Education Building
Food and Nutrition Services is conducting a contest to name its dining facility in the new Medical Education Building.
The dining area in the Medical Education Building, now under construction, will serve breakfast and lunch in a casual, upscale setting, said Lori Sanchez, food service manager. Currently using a working title of the Medical Education Building Café, the facility will offer a comfortable, open environment with counter and open-area seating intended to serve faculty, students, staff and visitors. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
During the early hours of the café’s operation, it will offer assorted pastries, fresh fruit, and hot and cold cereals. One of the café’s main features will be a barista-style coffee service that provides gourmet coffees, specialty beverages and espresso.
The lunch menu will offer handcrafted sandwiches, gourmet soups, chili and a panini press for hot sandwiches and wraps. For those with limited time, some sandwiches and salads will be made in advance and packaged. Desserts, beverages and fresh fruit also will be available during lunch.
The new name for the café cannot include the name of a person. Suggestions will be accepted until Monday, August 28, at 5 p.m., and should be submitted to mededcafecontest@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu. |
