Training sessions set for influenza pandemic plans

Three training sessions designed to help managers prepare their departmental emergency response and business continuity plans for an influenza pandemic are scheduled for next week.

The development of the plans is part of the overall preparations that UC Davis Health System officials are making for the possibility of an influenza pandemic. The plans must be completed by July 14. The dates and times for the training sessions are as follows:

  • Monday, June 26, 3-4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 27, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 28, 8-9:30 a.m.

The sessions will be held in the Broadway Building, Suite 1630.

Departmental business and continuity plans are to cover the critical functions and positions, designated personnel, and response/recovery actions of particular departments as they apply to an influenza pandemic scenario. Completed departmental plans will be compiled into a health system-wide plan for responding to an influenza pandemic.

The topics to be covered in the training sessions are:

  • Emergency management at UC Davis Health System
  • Avian influenza/pandemic update
  • UC Davis Health System’s pandemic plan
  • Personal preparedness
  • Assistance in completing Appendix A of the Influenza Pandemic Emergency Response & Business Continuity Planning Guide (distributed previously to managers via e-mail)

Attendance at the training sessions is voluntary. Registration is not required.
