Boehmer, Easter appointed as Assistant Directors for Patient Care Services

Two UC Davis nurses with nearly 50 years of combined experience, Judie Boehmer and Gail Easter, have been appointed as Assistant Directors for Patient Care Services.

Boehmer will be responsible for the Children’s Hospital and pediatric inpatient services including PICU, Davis 7, East 7, the Children's Critical Care Transport Team, Child Life and Neonatal units. She will also be responsible for Labor and Delivery and the Women's Pavilion. In addition to these inpatient services, Boehmer will assume administrative responsibility for hospital policy and procedures, Infection Control, and the operations and practices committees.

Easter will be responsible for orthopaedics, GI and vascular surgery, oncology, neurology, neurosurgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, general medicine, the MSICU and transplant. She also will be responsible for Social Services, Discharge Planning, the Center for Nursing Research, clinical nurse specialists, Patient Escort, the Lift Team, orthopaedic techs, CISD and liaison with Labor Relations.

Boehmer has 18 years of experience at UC Davis Health System as a clinical nurse, home health nurse, educator and nurse manager. She received her BSN from Minot State University in North Dakota and her master’s degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Phoenix.

She maintains professional memberships in the Association of Wormen's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing, and the Association of California Nurse Leaders. She has numerous honors and awards, several publications, and is involved in community volunteer efforts including W.E.A.V.E. and S.A.F.E.

Easter has 30 years of nursing experience. She received her BSN from the University of Iowa and worked as a staff nurse for one year before coming to UC Davis Health System. She received her master’s degree in nursing from UC San Francisco. Easter has been a nurse manager on East 5 for 22 years and has assumed increasing responsibilities in that role. She has been instrumental in the clinical efforts to increase the rate of organ donation within the health system.
