Application deadline for master’s in health informatics is May 31

May 31 is the deadline for applying for the Master of Science program in Health Informatics from UC Davis Health System.

The program is designed for health professionals holding an advanced degree, such as M.D., D.O., D.V.M., R.N., N.P., Pharm.D., D.D.S. or D.C. Applications are being accepted for admission to the fall quarter.

The 28 members of the Health Informatics faculty are from the UC Davis School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, College of Engineering and Genome Center. The faculty mix creates a rich, multidisciplinary environment that reflects the diversity found within the field of health informatics.

Courses for this research-oriented master of science degree include:

  • An introduction to health informatics
  • Medical decision support systems
  • Clinical data acquisition and analysis
  • Scientific data management
  • Computer-based patient record systems
  • Health informatics in Web-based enterprise computing
  • Telemedicine
  • Health informatics seminar series

Electives may be chosen from a wide selection of approved, research-focused courses. In addition, students are required to undertake a mandatory research project and thesis.

The program provides excellent opportunities for research projects within the university and throughout its affiliated partners. Examples of research environments are:

  • UC Davis Health System’s Center for Virtual Care
  • The UC Davis Center for Comparative Medicine
  • The UC Davis Genome Center
  • UC Davis Health System’s center for Health and Technology, with its internationally recognized telemedicine program
