Cardiology, anesthesiology residents win 2006 House Staff Professionalism Award
Jeffrey Southard, a resident in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, and Mojca Konia, a resident in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, have been selected to receive the 2006 House Staff Professionalism Award, intended to honor a resident identified by his or her co-workers and ancillary staff for exemplifying the attributes of professionalism. Southard and Konia will receive the award at the UC Davis School of Medicine's Senior Faculty Awards Banquet.
The American Board of Internal Medicine defines professionalism as one who "aspires to altruism, accountability, excellence, duty, service, honor, integrity and respect for others."
The School of Medicine Alumni Association created the award in 2002. All current UC Davis postgraduate house staff are eligible to be nominated. Southard and Konia, chosen by the School of Medicine Alumni Board based on the quantity and/or quality of nominations received, each will receive $100 gift certificates and plaques in the hospital. |
